The conference will be followed by an excursion from 24th to 30 June 2005. This will give delegates an opportunity to explore the daiversity of habitats in Ireland and challenges for management arising from landuse changes. The first 3 days of the excursion will be based in Galway, the following 4 days will be based in Kerry, and delegates have the option to participate for 2, 4 or 7 days. Areas to be visited include the Burren karst region, the Connemara blanket bogs and machair, raised bogs and fens in the midlands and the Killarney National Park.
The excursion will begin on the morning of Friday 24th from the College and end on the evening of Thursday 30th June back at the college.
The complete cost of the excursion, to include guides, transport, entrance fees, seven lunches, six nights accommodation, and evening meals whilst in Kerry, will be €550.00. Evening meals are not included for the first 3 days but there is a wide selection of restaurants in Galway.
Delegates who do not wish to participate in the complete excursion may choose to attend:
- The Galway based days from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th for €240.00
This will include guides, transport, entrance fees, three lunches, and three nights accommodation at Corrib Village in Galway.
- The Kerry based days from Monday 27th to Thursday 30th for €330.00
This will include guides, transport, entrance fees, 4 lunches, 3 nights accommodation and dinner in the Lake Hotel in Killarney.
