Travel to Galway

Via air:

  • Galway Airport: conveniently located just 8km from Galway City centre. Taxis to city centre and car hire is available. Aer Arann operates various  daily services from the UK to Galway Airport.
  • Shannon Airport: Shannon Airport is a regional airport in the Midwest of Ireland which is about 1hour 30 mins from Galway.  There are various bus services from Shannon to Galway. For more information: http://www.shannonairport.com/index.html
  • Dublin Airport: Dublin Airport is situated around 10 km north of Dublin city. You can take a taxi to the City Centre, but the special "Airlink" bus is much cheaper and just as quick.  Departing from directly outside the Arrivals building, this bus leaves every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on Sundays. It connects the Airport with Busáras (the central bus station).  There is a less frequent (half-hourly) service which will bring you as far as Heuston Railway Station

  • Citylink Bus: provides service between Shannon Airport and Galway city (service from Shannon to Galway has recently been reduced to three departures per day, so please check the schedules athttp://www.citylink.ie     Tel:  +353 (0)91 564163

Via Train

  • Dublin to Galway: There is a frequent train service from Dublin (Heuston Station) to Galway daily. The journey takes approximately three hours. Iarnród Éireann train timetables can be found at: http://www.irishrail.ie/
